In a land that has known only war, peace is unbearable. The Gallanti and Marthosi’s battles have raged for time out of memory, and when the Spiritus Thariel grants the Gallanti leader Tarkon, the means to win, he can’t forgive her.

The years pass but Tarkon lingers, unable to die, for death is the other half of what Thariel gifted. And then, on a chill winter’s night, Tarkon is offered a second chance.
